Hello.

My name is Blaine Scinta, the founder of filmhaus. I picked up a camera for the first time 14 years ago. It sort of released me in a way that allows me to bring out how something can make me feel, and ignited my love for people, and the stories that bring them together. I grew up in the suburbs of Louisville, Kentucky in a family full of creative people. My father painted for a living and he taught me so much when it comes to truly capturing that feeling, and that moment - instilling intentionality with each shot. When I was 16 he gave me a film camera that belonged to him while he attended art school, and from there everything changed. From that point on, capturing a moment would always mean a lot more than just going out , buying a camera, and simply opening the shutter and seeing what comes out on the other end. It’s about capturing a balance of light, gesture and color. I have learned that “being there for the shot” is just as important as “getting the shot” and if you’re not careful, you’ll miss the small moments we end up cherishing the most. I have been to many places across the world. I’ve slept in cars, climbed mountains, camped out next to waterfalls, ate Icelandic hotdogs in freezing weather (which I highly encourage minus the freezing weather), walked on stone roads that are thousands of years old, I’ve talked to people in different cultures who I never thought I would know, hailed a taxi in 3 languages, yelled from the top of mountains, sailed around islands and what blows my mind is there is so much more out there. Theres a story literally around every corner.

I’m here to capture what no one else sees. They’re the little moments that are so easy to miss. Ultimately, content means nothing unless it is connected to our real experiences. I love to work with people and brands that I believe in, and capture the special moments that no one else sees. Capturing a moment in life humbles me, and reminds me how important and precious time can be. When the shot comes, it happens and it’s over. That moment has come and gone and will never ever happen again and that fact makes it that much more special.

I love working closely with brands that do far more than make stuff we don’t need and sell ideas rather than solve problems. I wake up every morning to a world that always has a story to be told.
